Chosen for Udaipur's hard water

Water Heaters & Geysers in Udaipur

Jain Ceramic Mart, at B-Block, 291, Main Road, Sector-14, Hiran Magri, Gordhan Vilas Rural, Udaipur, Rajasthan 313001, stocks storage and instant water heaters for Udaipur homes. Because groundwater across much of the Udaipur region is hard, we prioritise models with glass-lined or titanium-enamel tanks and replaceable anode rods — the two specifications that decide whether a geyser lasts three years or ten.
What we stock

Water heater types

Two categories, one straightforward rule: storage for bathrooms, instant for kitchens.

  • Storage Water Heaters

10–35 litre tanks that hold hot water ready — the right choice for bathrooms and showers.

In Udaipur's hard water, the tank lining and a replaceable anode rod matter more than headline wattage. Glass-lined or titanium-enamel tanks resist scale and corrosion far better than budget alternatives.

    • Glass-lined
    • Anode rod
    • 15–25 L typical

    Typically ₹6,000 – ₹22,000

  • Instant Water Heaters

3–6 litre units that heat on demand, for kitchen sinks and hand-wash points.

Output is limited to a few litres per minute at a comfortable temperature, which is not enough for a satisfying shower — especially in winter. Keep these to kitchens and wash basins.

    • On demand
    • Not for showers

    Typically ₹2,500 – ₹6,000

Understanding the category

Choosing a geyser that lasts here

Storage or instant?

A storage geyser heats a tank and keeps it hot. Because the reservoir already exists, it delivers a steady temperature for as long as the tank lasts — which is what a shower needs.

An instant geyser heats water only as it passes through, so its output is limited to a few litres per minute at a comfortable temperature. Fine for rinsing hands or dishes; genuinely inadequate for a shower in winter.

What capacity do you actually need?

For bucket bathing, 10–15 litres. For a shower, 15–25 litres, with a 25 L unit comfortably covering one long shower or two short ones back to back. For a bathtub, 35 L or more.

Bigger is not automatically better — an oversized tank reheats water you never use, and standby loss is a real running cost.

Why hard water kills geysers

Calcium and magnesium scale coats the heating element and acts as insulation. The element then runs hotter and longer to heat the same water, which raises bills and eventually burns it out.

Scale also accelerates corrosion of the tank lining — and a pinhole in the lining is the beginning of a leaking tank. This is why the lining specification matters more than the wattage.

The anode rod question

An anode rod is a sacrificial magnesium rod that corrodes instead of your tank. In hard water it depletes faster.

What matters when buying is whether it can be inspected and replaced. A geyser with a serviceable anode rod can be kept going for a decade; one where the rod is buried effectively has an expiry date.

Installation details that decide longevity

Use CPVC on both inlet and outlet — never UPVC on a hot line. Fit the multi-function valve supplied; it combines pressure relief and a non-return function and is not optional.

Leave service clearance. Boxing a geyser tightly into a false ceiling makes annual descaling expensive enough that people skip it, which is how geysers die.

Annual maintenance

Once a year: switch off power, close the inlet, open a hot tap to break the vacuum, drain and flush until clear, inspect the anode rod, and descale the element if there is visible crust.

Two signs it is overdue — water takes noticeably longer to heat than it used to, or the unit crackles and rumbles while heating. Both are scale.

Buying advice

Choosing a geyser

What actually matters when you are choosing — the questions worth settling before you buy.

What capacity do I actually need?

For bucket bathing, 10–15 litres. For a shower, 15–25 litres, with 25 L covering two short showers back to back. For a bathtub, 35 L or more. Oversizing simply reheats water you never use.

Why does hard water kill geysers?

Calcium and magnesium scale coats the heating element, acting as insulation. The element then runs hotter and longer to heat the same water, raising bills and eventually burning out. Scale also accelerates corrosion of the tank lining, which is what finally causes leaks.

What is an anode rod and why ask about it?

A sacrificial magnesium rod that corrodes instead of your tank. It depletes faster in hard water, so what matters is whether it can be inspected and replaced. A geyser with a serviceable anode rod can be kept running for a decade.

Buying in Udaipur

Regional groundwater studies across the Udaipur area have recorded total dissolved solids ranging from a few hundred to well over 2,000 mg/L, with a substantial share of samples outside the desirable limit for hardness. If your kettle scales up and soap struggles to lather, your geyser is dealing with the same water — which is why tank lining and a replaceable anode rod are worth paying for here.

FAQs

Common questions

What customers ask most often about water heaters & geysers in udaipur — sizing, fitting, warranty and what to decide first.

Which water heater is best for hard water?

In hard water, choose a storage water heater with a glass-lined or titanium-enamel tank, an incoloy heating element and a replaceable magnesium anode rod. These three specifications resist scale and corrosion far better than budget alternatives, and matter more than headline wattage.

What size geyser do I need for one bathroom?

A 15 to 25 litre storage geyser suits a single bathroom. A 25 litre unit comfortably supports one long shower or two short showers back to back, which covers most Udaipur households. Bucket bathing needs only 10 to 15 litres.

How often should a geyser be serviced in Udaipur?

Descale a storage geyser roughly once a year in hard-water areas of Udaipur, and inspect the anode rod at the same time. If the water takes noticeably longer to heat than it used to, or the unit crackles and rumbles while heating, scale has already built up and service is overdue.

Can I use UPVC pipe for a geyser connection?

No. Geyser inlet and outlet lines must use CPVC, which is rated for continuous use at around 93°C. UPVC softens above roughly 60°C and can deform at joints, causing leaks inside walls.

Is an instant geyser good for a shower?

No. An instant geyser heats water only as it flows, limiting output to a few litres per minute at a comfortable temperature, which is not enough for a satisfying shower — especially in winter. Instant models are best kept to kitchen sinks and hand-wash points.
