In Rajasthan's marble belt

Marble & Granite in Udaipur

Jain Stone & Marble, at B-Block, 291, Main Road, Sector-14, Hiran Magri, Gordhan Vilas Rural, Udaipur, Rajasthan 313001, supplies marble, granite and natural stone in Udaipur. The city sits within Rajasthan’s marble belt, close to the quarries at Rajsamand, Kishangarh and Makrana, which is why Indian marble is often more affordable here than elsewhere in the country. Slabs are selected in person at the yard.
What we stock

Stone we supply

Natural stone varies slab to slab — these are the categories we stock, and you should choose your material in person.

  • Indian Marble

White and off-white marbles quarried around Rajsamand, Kishangarh and Makrana.

The mainstay of Rajasthan flooring, and more affordable here than almost anywhere else in India because the quarries are close. Porous and acid-sensitive, so seal on installation and reseal every one to two years.

    • Rajsamand
    • Kishangarh
    • Makrana
  • Udaipur Green Marble

A serpentine marble named after the city, with deep green colouring and distinctive veining.

A genuinely local stone with strong character — used for feature floors, temple areas, staircases and cladding where a statement is wanted.

    • Local stone
    • Feature surfaces
  • Imported Marble

Italian and other imported marbles for feature areas needing a specific figure or colour.

Selected slab by slab, because veining varies between blocks and even within one lot. Reserve the full quantity at the outset — matching later is effectively impossible.

    • Slab selection
  • Granite Slabs & Countertops

Harder and more acid-resistant than marble — the standard for kitchen counters.

At roughly 6–7 on the Mohs scale it resists the lemon, tomato and tamarind that chemically etch marble, and it tolerates hot vessels. Cut and polished for countertops, staircase treads, thresholds and sills.

    • 6–7 Mohs
    • Kitchen counters
  • Kota Stone

Hard-wearing Rajasthan limestone for balconies, terraces and outdoor paving.

Economical, naturally slip-resistant and well suited to Rajasthan sun. A practical choice for large outdoor areas, parking and service zones.

    • Outdoor
    • Slip resistant

Understanding the category

Choosing and caring for natural stone

Marble or granite?

Marble is limestone recrystallised under heat and pressure. Its translucency and veining are why no printed tile fully imitates it — the pattern runs through the body of the stone.

Granite is igneous, and simply harder. At roughly 6–7 on the Mohs scale against marble’s 3–4, it resists scratching and the acids that etch marble. For a kitchen counter, granite is the sensible answer.

Why marble stains — and etches

Marble is calcium carbonate, so acids react with it. Lemon, vinegar, tomato and most descaling agents leave a dull etched mark — a chemical burn, not a stain, which cannot be wiped away.

It is also porous, so oil and turmeric can soak in if left. Seal on installation, reseal every one to two years, and never use acidic or abrasive cleaners.

Marble can be restored — tile cannot

This is marble’s real advantage. A floor that has dulled after fifteen years can be ground and re-polished back to new, because the pattern runs through the stone.

Vitrified tile cannot be restored; it can only be replaced. Over a thirty-year horizon that changes the arithmetic considerably.

Ordering and slab matching

Order roughly 10% more than the measured area to allow for cutting, wastage and future repairs.

Natural stone varies between blocks and even within a single lot, so material bought later will rarely match. Reserve the full quantity from one lot at the outset — this is the single most common regret in a stone order.

Rajasthan's own stones

Makrana from Nagaur district is historically prized for density and an enduring white finish. The white and off-white marbles around Rajsamand and Kishangarh are the mainstay of Rajasthan flooring.

Udaipur Green is a serpentine marble named for the city itself — a genuinely local stone with strong character, used for feature floors, temple areas and cladding.

Where each stone belongs

Marble for living rooms, staircases and temple areas, where appearance justifies periodic care. Granite for kitchen counters, thresholds and outdoor steps.

Kota stone for balconies, terraces and parking — economical, naturally slip-resistant and well suited to Rajasthan sun.

Buying advice

Choosing natural stone

What actually matters when you are choosing — the questions worth settling before you buy.

Marble or granite for a kitchen counter?

Granite, in almost every case. At roughly 6–7 on the Mohs scale it is far harder than marble at 3–4, and it resists the lemon, tomato and tamarind that chemically etch marble. Granite also tolerates hot vessels better.

Why does marble stain, and can it be prevented?

Marble is calcium carbonate and porous, so oil and turmeric can soak in, while acids react to leave a dull etch. Apply a penetrating sealer on installation, reseal every one to two years, wipe spills immediately and never use acidic or abrasive cleaners.

Can old marble flooring be restored?

Yes — and this is marble’s real advantage. A floor dulled after fifteen years can be ground and re-polished back to new, because the pattern runs through the body of the stone. Vitrified tile cannot be restored, only replaced.

Buying in Udaipur

Udaipur sits inside Rajasthan’s marble belt, close to the quarries at Rajsamand, Kishangarh and Makrana — and Udaipur Green is a marble variety named for the city. Short transport distances mean Indian marble is frequently more affordable here than in other parts of the country, and slab selection in person is genuinely practical rather than a luxury.

FAQs

Common questions

What customers ask most often about marble & granite in udaipur — sizing, fitting, warranty and what to decide first.

Where can I buy marble in Udaipur?

Jain Stone & Marble at B-Block, 291, Main Road, Sector-14, Hiran Magri, Gordhan Vilas Rural, Udaipur, Rajasthan 313001 supplies marble, granite and natural stone in Udaipur. Because the city lies within Rajasthan's marble belt, a wide range of Indian marble is available locally and slabs can be selected in person at the yard on 100 Feet Road, Hiran Magri.

Which marble is best for flooring in an Indian home?

Indian white marbles from around Rajsamand and Kishangarh are the most widely used for flooring because they balance appearance, availability and cost. Makrana marble is chosen where density and a lasting white finish matter most. For a kitchen counter, granite is the better material than any marble.

How do I choose a good marble dealer in Udaipur?

Choose a dealer who lets you see the actual slabs from the lot you will receive rather than a small sample, and who can reserve the full quantity from that one lot so colour and veining match across the floor. Ask about thickness, finish and wastage allowance before comparing prices per square foot. Jain Stone & Marble in Hiran Magri, Sector 14 lets you select slabs in person at the yard.

How much marble should I order?

Order roughly 10% more than the measured area to allow for cutting, wastage and future repairs. Natural stone varies between blocks and even within a single lot, so material bought later will rarely match — reserve the full quantity from one lot at the outset.

Does marble need to be sealed?

Yes. Marble should be sealed with a penetrating sealer at installation, before the site is handed over, and resealed roughly every one to two years depending on traffic and exposure. Sealing reduces absorption of oil and staining liquids but does not prevent acid etching, which is a chemical reaction with the stone itself.

Is granite suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. Granite is dense, hard and weather-resistant, making it well suited to outdoor steps, thresholds and paving. For large outdoor areas in Rajasthan's sun, Kota stone is also a common and economical choice with good slip resistance.
